  As school employees, we see the young faces of poverty in Phillipsburg on a daily basis. The statistics below are provided to demonstrate how widespread the problem is in Phillipsburg. Last year, NORWESCAP distributed almost 2,000,000 pounds of food to over 130 agencies in Hunterdon, Sussex & Warren counties. Over 8,000 individuals, over half of them children, are fed every month by NORWESCAP's Food Bank. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank is able to purchase 14 pounds of food. 1 Thus over the past four years, the PEA has enabled the Food Bank to purchase 135,000 pounds, or 67 tons, of food for the people of Phillipsburg and the surrounding areas.
