PEA Elections: Voting Procedures

Important Dates

March 29 (Tues.) - Last date to submit supplemental nominations for office.

April 5 (Tues.) - General meeting at Flynn's after school starting at approx. 4:00 p.m. Come meet the candidates and hear them speak. Also come hear and vote on the details of the new PEA Scholarship program. If approved, two $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating PHS seniors.

April 12 (Tues.) - Executive Meeting

April 19 (Tues.) - Vote for your local school budget this day!

April 21 (Thurs.) - PEA elections will be held in each building in the district this day.

Important Changes

This will be the first election under the new PEA constitution approved on April 25, 2003. Old-time PEA members should note the following changes to the election procedures.

1) No nominations for office will be accepted from the floor at the general meeting on April 5. (PEA By-Laws Article III, Section 3)

2) Supplemental nominations for PEA office may be made by forwarding a petition containing the name of the individual and office along with the signatures of 5% of the active membership (currently 30 signatures) no less than 1 week prior to the date of the general meeting. (PEA By-Laws Article III, Section 2)

3) Officers may serve consecutive terms. (PEA By-Laws Article III, Section 4a)

4) Newly-elected individuals take office July 1, 2005. (PEA By-Laws Article III, Section 3b)
