May 2005

1) The annual Deli Trip was held May 1.
2) Celebration for 8 retiring members: Loretta Adamitis (para); Jean de Streel (ESL Teacher); Gloria McCluskey (para); Judy Merlo (Elem. Teacher); Carol Mertz (PHS English Teacher); Phyllis Moser (secretary); Ralph O'Connell (Elem. Librarian); & Bobbi Ricci (Elem. PE Teacher); was held at the Almond Tree Restaurant in Alpha. 3) The Health & Safety committee was formed.
4) The Membership Committee updated the personal information of all members for the PEA & NJEA databases.

5) Aaron Sulick, fifth grader from Andover-Morris , won the regional spelling bee and represented the region in Washington D.C. at the national spelling bee. Association members organized, ran and financially supported the local spelling bee event.

June 2005

 The first-ever PEA scholarship recipients were honored: Kristi Dehart, Julie Tersigni & Jen Woodring. The PEA presented each young lady a check for $500 to assist them in their future educational endeavors. Click here.

 

July 2005

1) The NEA Convention will be held in Los Angeles from July 1-6.
2) The Ole Towne Festival will be held July 23 & 24. Volunteers are needed to man the tent in two-hour shifts. Click here to volunteer.

August 2005

1) The NJEA Summer Leadership workshops will be held this month. The PEA is sending 12 people.
2) See you on the first day of school for the 2005-06 school year on Monday, August 29.
